In the period 09-10 October 2025, the Fifth International Education Forum "The City as a Study Site. Utilizing the Urban Environment for Modern and Quality Education" took place, organized by the Municipality of Varna in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria and ICT Cluster Varna. The event took place in a hybrid format and brought together over 280 organizations and institutions, more than 400 participants and representatives from six countries.
The forum was attended by the Acting Mayor of Varna, the Regional Governor, employer organizations and trade unions in the field of education, heads and pedagogical specialists from kindergartens and schools, rectors and representatives of the academic community and the non-governmental sector.
A traditional Student and School Section under the title "Students of Varna Present" was held as part of the event. For the first time, a round table "Shared Horizons: Varna and Reggio Emilia in a Dialogue on Childhood and the City" was held within the framework of the event.
